Community Cleanups
EDGES Africa’s Community Cleanup Campaigns are more than just environmental drives — they are grassroots empowerment movements.
Held across cities like Calabar, Niger, and Sokoto, these cleanups unite volunteers, schools, and local leaders to take tangible climate action.
During each event, participants learn about waste segregation, recycling practices, and the health impacts of pollution, while actively restoring their environments.
Beyond collecting waste, the cleanups inspire participants to see environmental care as a daily lifestyle, not a one-time event.
Each cleanup ends with an eco-education session and a “Trash to Treasure” demonstration, where collected plastics are sorted for reuse or upcycling — proving that sustainability can start with simple local actions.
HER-EDGE Trainings
The HER-EDGE program is one of EDGES Africa’s flagship initiatives designed to close the gender gap in digital and green education.
Through in-person workshops and virtual learning sessions, women and girls gain hands-on skills in climate-smart innovation, digital marketing, renewable energy literacy, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
These trainings go beyond theory — participants work on real projects, develop digital portfolios, and receive mentorship from African women leaders in sustainability and tech.
Our goal is to equip 10,000 women across Africa with the knowledge and tools to start green businesses, secure tech jobs, or lead local sustainability projects.
“HER-EDGE is not just a training — it’s a transformation journey,” says founder Esther Daniels. “We’re building a network of women who lead Africa’s green future.”
GreenWorks Bootcamps
The GreenWorks Africa Bootcamps are designed for young Africans who want to build careers in the green economy.
These immersive training sessions introduce participants to renewable energy, sustainable design, waste management, and climate innovation — paired with digital skills like project management, data literacy, and remote collaboration.
Through practical workshops, hackathons, and mentorship sessions, youth participants learn how to turn environmental challenges into employment opportunities.
The bootcamps also feature career talks and startup incubation sessions, where participants pitch ideas for green ventures that receive support from EDGES Africa’s partners and mentors.
The outcome? A growing network of climate-smart youth ready to drive Africa’s sustainable workforce.
Trash to Treasure Workshops
Our Trash to Treasure Workshops are creative and transformative experiences where participants learn to upcycle waste materials into valuable products.
These sessions teach local artisans, women entrepreneurs, and youth how to turn plastic bottles, old fabrics, and discarded items into items like flower pots, tiles, fashion accessories, and eco-friendly art pieces.
By merging creativity with sustainability, the workshops promote circular economy thinking — showing that “waste” can be a resource for income generation.
Participants also learn basic business development, branding, and marketing skills to help them sell their upcycled products locally or online.
Each workshop ends with an exhibition where attendees showcase their creations — celebrating innovation, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
Digital Learning Launch Events
To celebrate milestones and new learning opportunities, EDGES Africa hosts Digital Learning Launch Events for courses offered on EO Online, our African-built Learning Management System.
These launch events bring together educators, learners, community partners, and donors to unveil new programs in sustainability, AI, and digital transformation.
Each event includes live demonstrations, impact storytelling, and networking sessions, highlighting how digital platforms can scale climate education across Africa.
The goal is to create excitement and accessibility — ensuring that anyone, anywhere in Africa can learn, grow, and lead through technology-driven, climate-conscious education.
EO Online is not just a platform; it’s Africa’s gateway to future-ready learning.
